A thirty-two
year old woman from Maastricht has abducted her two children and smuggled them
to Syria. The boy is 8 years old and the
girl is 7 years old. Apparently, the
mother has received help from the jihadi networks, including those in
Maastricht. The father has not given his
permission for the children to be taken out of the Netherlands. The prosecutor in Maastricht said that it is
the first time Dutch children have been abducted to the Caliphate. The intelligence services had indications
that the woman might leave for abroad, but because of lack of detailed
information, no action was undertaken.
Finally, the woman, who is of Chechen origin, departed with a false
