A former agent
of the Military Intelligence and Security Service (MIVD) has blackmailed the
Dutch State. He threatened to go public about his secret activities in Afghanistan.
This was stated by Marc Gazenbeek, director legal affairs of the Ministry of
Defense before the court in The Hague. He said that the former agent was
offered half a million Euro in order to remain silent. The MIVD feared that he
would make recordings public from his conversations with other members of its personnel. The former
agent had been a policeman in the past and had business activities in Afghanistan.
He claims that he lost millions of Euros because the MIVD left him to his fate
in Afghanistan.
