Minister of
Economic Affairs Henk Kamp says that due to the gas industry in Groningen there
has been too little attention paid to the safety of the local population. The government is voicing its regret and is
now aware that many people in the province are continuously confronted with the
detrimental consequences of the earthquakes resulting from the underground gas
collection. Various politicians have announced that the government will now
have to show that it really puts safety first.
