Immigration helps Employers and Hurts the Poorly Educated
Author Joost Niemoller claims in a new book that employers benefit from immigration and those who have been poorly educated become the victims of this. He adds that left-of-center political parties have been relatively silent about this, contrary to what is common in countries such as France and the U.K. The immigration has brought to the Netherlands cultural habits which split the country. Within a few years besides the many other non-Western immigrants, 300,000 Eastern Europeans have arrived and more may come. These people are a relative burden on the welfare state.

Belgium Muslims: Dutch Freedom Monument is ‘Axis of Evil’
Muslim fundamentalists of the Shariah4Belgium group gave an improvised press conference on Friday at the main square of Amsterdam which houses the Royal Palace and the National Freedom monument. These Salafists said that the monument is the “axis of all evil” around which “all perversities are gathered.” They added that, “on the first sunny days, the Dutch drink themselves to unconsciousness and prostitute themselves.” They also said that Freedom Party leader Geert Wilders would be murdered like media- maker Theo van Gogh. www.telegraaf.nl/binnenland/12220397/__Predikers_schofferen_NL__.html

Conflict Between Parliament and Ombudsman
A conflict has arisen between Parliament and National Ombudsman Alex Brenninkmeijer. The Ombudsman had said last month that the government which has since resigned wants to push the independent justice system so far backwards “that one wonders whether anything remains of it.” He referred to laws such as the prohibition of burkas, the prohibition of double nationality and the establishment of an animal police unit as “symbolic” proposals of law. He added that in his opinion, the cabinet was acting out of spite because it felt that the independent judges just disturbed technocracy. A majority of Parliament considers that the statements of the ombudsman were too political, unacceptable, unfounded and improper.

Dutch Youths Suffer from Stress Due to Social Media
A study of the National Academy for Media and Society finds that many Dutch youths between the ages of 13 and 18 suffer from stress due to social media outlets. They can hardly detach themselves from their mobile phones. Youngsters often indicate that they can no longer stop this because they are afraid to be excluded by their peers. In some cases this even leads to an illness called “Fomo” – Fear of Missing Out.

Economist: Netherlands Welcomes Foreign Organ Criminals
Marcel Canoy, Professor of Economics at the University of Tilburg said that there is no other case in the Netherlands where the country is so welcoming of criminality as in organ trading. In the Netherlands itself, it is forbidden to pay donors for making parts of their bodies available, people are also not allowed to offer such material for payment. Yet, it is permissible to buy such material abroad – that means that the Netherlands stimulates criminal organ traders who turn poor people in India and China into their victims.

Half of Psychiatric Patients Victims of Violence
The Dutch organization for Scientific Research (NWO) has concluded that psychiatric patients are much more frequently victimized by violence rather than as the perpetrators. They are also victimized more frequently than the average Dutchman. Psychiatric patients are victims of burglary and intimidation ten times more than the average Dutchman. Out of 957 patients investigated, last year about half were victims of violence. The NWO said that this is the first time in the Netherlands that a study has been done on violence of psychiatric patients. According to the researchers, caretakers have to become more aware of victimhood of psychiatric patients and to be alerted to the signs thereof.

Children’s Ombudsman: One in Ten Children Lives in Poverty
Children’s Ombudsman Marc Dullaert said that in the Netherlands one in ten children grows up in poverty. This means that 327,000 boys and girls often don’t eat healthy food, are not members of a sports club, do not get swimming lessons and have to wear old clothes and shoes because there is no money for new ones. He added that on the basis of the Convention of Children’s Rights, each child is entitled to a standard of living which is enough for its “physical, spiritual, intellectual and moral development.” Dullaert added that the number of children in The Netherlands who he is worried about for a variety of reasons, is even bigger at around half a million.

Wilders Accuses Prime Minister Rutte of Intimidation
Freedom Party leader Geert Wilders considers a remark by Prime Minister Mark Rutte during failed negotiations to save the government, as intimidating. Rutte said that he wanted to break the Freedom Party until its last seat. Rutte admitted on a TV program that he had said this during a moment of anger. Wilders reacted that such an intimidating remark was unworthy of a Prime Minister. He added that Rutte is destroying the Netherlands with an “irresponsible austerity program for 2013 that will lead to unemployment, reduce purchasing power and economic growth and deliver the Netherlands to the wolves of Brussels."

Dutch Town Plays German Anthem on National Memorial Day
It has now become known that for a number of years on National Memorial Day, 4 May, the German anthem is played at the official commemoration for the dead on the island of Schiermonnikoog. Last week, a judge forbade the mayor of the town of Vorden to commemorate German soldiers on National Memorial Day by visiting their graves. The judge said that commemoration of German soldiers cannot be done on 4 May and not together with the victims of the Nazi regime. A small Dutch Jewish organization, the Federation Jewish Netherlands had asked the judge to do so and will now investigate at how many other Memorial Day commemorations the German occupiers are commemorated. The 100,000 murdered Dutch Jews are by far the largest group of victims of the German occupation in the Netherlands.

Major Misconduct by Police Heads toward Traumatized Agents
The Dutch Police neglect employees who have psychological problems and are at home due to them. Efforts are made to force them to resign, or alternatively, to fire them in doubtful ways. Police agents complain about abuse of power, intimidation, pestering and manipulation. Many agents who suffer from post-traumatic stress disturbance do not get any assistance from the police and have to pay their medical costs themselves. According to the trade unions, at least 40 agents are involved in legal battles against the police. One of their demands is recognition of post-traumatic stress disturbance as a professional disease.

On National Liberation Day, Muslims ask for Release of Murderer
On National Liberation Day, 4 May, twenty radical Muslims of the Sharia4Belgium group demonstrated before the high security prison in Vught. They asked for the liberation of Mohammed Bouyeri, who was sentenced to life in prison for the cruel murder of mediamaker Theo van Gogh in 2004. They said that the Dutch were feasting while many innocent “brothers” are in jail. At the end of last year, the same group disrupted a debate about the modernization of Islam in Amsterdam.

Garbage Disposal Increasing in Nature Areas
Jeffrey Huizenga of the State Forest Management organization in the northern Netherlands said that garbage and waste deposited in nature areas has been increasing. Much of this is building material waste which varies from asbestos slabs to fluorescent lighting, but also car tires and waste from illegal cannabis plantations. In one town, the forest management put containers in for the garbage. Huizenga said that so much is dumped that they need to be emptied daily. Discussions are underway to install cameras in nature reserves in the province of Friesland.

Another Scandal about Memorial Day
Once again, the National Committee
which deals with Memorial and Liberation Days, 4 and 5 May respectively in the
Netherlands, has given preference to the German attitude after the war over the
wishes of the families of the victims of the German SS’s murderers. The
committee, together with the municipality of the town of Breda refuses to
include the names of the 22 victims of the Dutch-German war criminal and
murderer Klaas Carel Faber in the list of memorial ceremonies. German President
Joachim Gauck will visit Breda on National Liberation Day on May 5th. A protest
committee has been organized which opposes the visit of Gauck unless he brings
Faber, who has received a life sentence in the Netherlands but escaped from
jail, with him from Germany.

Children in foster families and Youth Care Homes are three to four times more often victims of sexual abuse than children who live at home. For children who are slightly mentally retarded the figure is ten times as high. Half of the children interviewed, who were victims of sexual abuse, refuse to name the perpetrators in answer to an anonymous questionnaire. These are findings of a not yet published report by researchers from Leiden University, ordered by the Samson commission of inquiry.
