Public Prosecutor Apologizes to Arrested Soccer Fans

Henk Korvinus, the Head Public Prosecutor of Rotterdam has sent a letter of apology to all those among the 799 soccer fans which were arrested on 23 April 2006 but have not been informed since whether they will be prosecuted. Those arrested at the game between Feyenoord (Rotterdam) and Ajax (Amsterdam) were left for many hours without toilets, food or drinking facilities. The National Ombudsman criticized the police behavior. The Attorney General’s Office has found that the arrests were justified.
