Politician: Establish Scum Boats to Jail Youngsters

Bas Driesen, the faction leader of the Trots op Nederland party (Being Proud of the Netherlands) in the town of Gouda has proposed that juvenile delinquents in the town be jailed at night on board a “scum boat.” Driesen explained that this way, they can go to school during the day and are away from the main town at night. In Gouda, one of the three criminals older than 12 years is of Moroccan origin – the highest percentage in the Netherlands. There are 330 registered Moroccan criminals older than 12 years in the town, according to a police investigation.

Police Handicapped by Poor Performance of Computer System

Stoffel Heijsmans, head of the Police in Utrecht has said that the police supplies 8-10% less files than it could to the prosecution because its new computer system performs poorly. According to Heijsmans, with a good computer system another 20,000 files could be provided. D66 Parliamentarian Magda Berndsen has asked Minister of Security and Justice Ivo Opstelten, whether it is true that only 3% of crimes are solved and that about 150,000 cases are not dealt with at all.

In the past two years, the taxation office has discovered 45,000 cases of tax fraud for a total amount of 135 million Euro. 90 million of these were discovered in time. It was also revealed that criminals have found ways to defraud the tax authorities by using the services of asylum seekers who can get taxations back by using falsified data. Christian Democrat Parliamentarian Pieter Omtzigt says that the government already promised a year and a half ago to deal with this matter and apparently very little has been done since. Deputy Minister Frans Weekers has informed the Parliament that he wants to give priority to this.

Deputy Prime Minister: Multicultural Society is a Failure

Maxime Verhagen, Deputy Prime Minister and Leader of the Christian Democrats (CDA) has said that the idea of letting non-Western immigrants and autochthonous Dutch live next to each other has totally failed. According to Verhagen, Dutchmen do not feel at home in their country, nor do the non-Dutch. In the United States if you ask people who they are, they say that they are Americans first and then state what their country of origin is. In the Netherlands however, there is no pride in one’s country by the autochthonous Dutch and no pride in being Dutch of the non-Western immigrants and their offspring.

Police Trade Union: Traffic Fines Far too High

The Police Trade Union ANPV, says that policemen consider the traffic fines they have to give out far too high. They are ashamed about writing certain fines. These high fines often lead to aggression on the part of the traffic offenders. The police trade union has called on its members to protest against the high fines with Minister Ivo Opstelten of Security and Justice. The ANPV says that driving through a red light bears a 185 Euro fine, whereas stealing from a store bears a 50 Euro fine. A spokesman from the union says, “Nobody understands this and we cannot explain it.”

Jewish Umbrella Organization: More Jews Hide Their Identity

The Centraal Joods Overleg, the umbrella body of Dutch Jewry has written to Parliament stating that more and more Jews are hiding their identity. The organization expresses its concern about the status of anti-Semitism in the Netherlands. The CJO mentions that in the Netherlands, a person who wears clothing which makes him a recognizable Jew, or who is known as a Jew is likely to face anti-Semitism. In schools, Jewish children encounter problems which sometimes lead them to transferring to other schools. The CJO mentions that Holocaust denial is so prevalent in the Netherlands that it is desirable to apply rapid justice where possible and sentence people to community service.

Doctors Do Not Report on Euthanasia of Handicapped Children

A report by a committee of experts mentions that during the years 2009 and 2010 only one case of euthanasia of a handicapped baby had been reported to it. The commission says that this is partly the result of the fact that there is great discrepancy between medical doctors as to when children suffer from unbearable pain without any hope of recovery. The commission has visited all neo-natal intensive care units in the Netherlands which treat prematurely born and severely handicapped babies. It discussed a fictitious case of the treatment of a patient which the commission considers active euthanasia, which should be reported. A minority of the specialized medical doctors however, considered it a natural death which should not be reported.

Christian Politician: I Am Shocked by anti-Semitism in Amsterdam

Parliamentarian Kees van der Staaij, leader of the Christian SGP Party says that during a recent work visit to Amsterdam, he has been shocked by the various forms of anti-Semitism which apparently have become normal in society. He mentioned that Jews cover their yarmulkes with a cap when they travel on public transportation and thus apparently feel the need to hide their Jewish identity. Van der Staaij added that Jewish schools are heavily fortified buildings. He said that the police have to take their complaints seriously. People have to get the feeling that concrete action follows their complaints.
