Dutch Soldiers have to buy their own winter clothes for mission


Dutch soldiers who will participate in a NATO exercise next month in Norway will have to buy their own clothes for the cold climate. The Dutch deputy minister of Defense Barbara Visser (Liberals) said that the ministry had failed to realize that such clothes were needed for the exercise. She hopes that this will never be repeated.

Dutch Government funded Jihadist Group in Syria


The Dutch government has been supporting an armed group in Syria which has been branded by the Dutch Public Prosecution as a terrorist group. The Netherlands provided uniforms and pick-up trucks to this group Jabbat al-Shamiya. The public Prosecutor calls this group Salafist and jihadist. It strives for the setting up caliphate and is a criminal organization with terrorist intent. The Netherlands has admitted funding Syrian rebel groups but has always falsely maintained that all were moderate.

Undercover sociologist: ‘Dutch Salafist have no loyalty to democracy’


Sociologist Mohammed Soroush has carried out during three years undercover research for his doctorate among the 30,000 Dutch Salafists. He concluded that they are not loyal to democracy. Their preachers promote intolerance and polarization.

Twenty Out of 39 Dutch Bishops Knew About Sexual Abuse in the Roman Catholic Church


Twenty of 39 Dutch Bishops, Assistant Bishops and Cardinals between 1945 and 2010 knew of the sexual abuse within the Roman Catholic Church in the Netherlands.  Four of them had themselves abused children and 16 others knew about the abuse done by some people reporting to them. These pedophiles were given another position in which they often abused children.

Antisemitic Shouts At Football Game


The first league football club, Vitesse Arnhem has complained to the police, about hardcore supporters who shouted at a recent game against Ajax Amsterdam, “Jews to the gas.”  A spokesman for the club said: “This type of shouting has no place in or around our stadium.”  The Center for Information and Documentation for Israel (CIDI) has also lodged a complaint to the police and has also requested that the Dutch Football Association (KNVB) to undertake action against the antisemitism.

Dutch Businesses are Not Prepared for a Hard Brexit



Dutch authorities including the Port of Rotterdam Authority say that a government study that showed that 80% of Dutch companies are not working on the assumption of a hard Brexit.  The date set for Brexit is March 29, 2019.  If no agreement is reached between the UK and the EU, much paperwork will be required.  One official said that those companies which do not prepare for a hard Brexit will be confronted with the fact that their goods will not leave the EU.

Major Bank Agrees on Huge Out of Court Settlement for Money Laundering



The major Dutch bank, ING, has reached a 775 million Euro out of court settlement with the public prosecution because it has failed to properly monitor money transfers for money laundering. Dutch banks are required by law to report suspicious transactions. The public prosecutor said that bank clients were able to use their accounts for criminal activities for many years undisturbed. The bank acknowledges serious shortcomings.

Afghan Terrorist Wounds Two American Tourists in Amsterdam


On Friday an Afghan terrorist stabbed and wounded two Americans at the main train station in Amsterdam.  The city administration said that based on the perpetrators first statement  he had a terrorist motive.  The Americans are recovering in hospital from what police called “serious but not life threatening injuries.”  The Amsterdam City Council said that the American victims were not chosen for a clear reason.
