Public Auditor’s Office Sees Increase in Noise Pollution

The office of the public auditor has found that the measures taken to protect citizens from traffic noise have been insufficient, mainly due to a lack of investment. Targets set by the authorities have not been met. Targets for air quality have also not been met. The main problem areas are around roads in western and southern Netherlands and several highways in other areas. The government has sent a request to the European Union for an extension in meeting the norms.
