The Venekamp family, owners of buildings with many prostitution windows on the Amsterdam Old Church square and its surroundings, has refused to sell its real estate. The municipality has failed in its efforts to force the family to sell. The neighborhood council has just extended permits for the windows for the next three years. The family says that business has increased substantially, since so many other brothels have closed in line with municipal policy.
