The Schieringen neighborhood in
Leeuwarden has been identified by the Verwey-Jonker Institute in Utrecht as the
worst neighborhood in the Netherlands for youngsters. This neighborhood leads
the Netherlands in truancy, child abuse, youth unemployment and criminality. Among
the ten worst neighborhoods, 4 are in Rotterdam and 3 in The Hague.
