Controversial Imam Sheikh Fawaz
Jneid has to be given access again immediately to the As-Soennah mosque in The
Hague. The board of the mosque has to lift his suspension so that he can preach
again as an Imam. This was decided by a judge after Jneid had taken the board
of the mosque to court. Otherwise, if the board doesn’t follow the court
decision, it risks penalty of up to 30,000 Euro. The Imam became known
nationally after he allegedly said about the Dutch media maker Theo van Gogh, who was later murdered: “Oh Lord, give van Gogh a sickness which cannot be
cured by all inhabitants in the world.” Jneid says that he is more moderate
today.
