Jews in the Netherlands were verbally
abused more often in 2011 than in 2010. Twenty-eight incidents were reported in
2011 according to the Center for Information and Documentation on Israel (CIDI),
compared to 9 cases in 2010. In 2009, there were twenty incidents reported, many
of which were related to Israeli army actions in Gaza. Many of those who report
verbal abuse say that this has been happening already for years, but the number
of incidents has increased in recent years. CIDI expressed its concern that
many people who suffer from verbal abuse no longer report it because they
assume that the perpetrators cannot be found, as they are unknown to the victims.
