Head of Amsterdam Neighborhood Council Attacks Police

Ahmed Marcouch, head of the Slotervaart Neighborhood Council in Amsterdam, claims that on the afternoon before New Year’s Eve, he had informed the police that he expected vandalism in the neighborhood that night, yet no action was taken. That evening 50 hooligans threw stones through the windows of the police station and burned police cars. The police say that there had been no indications of expected vandalism, especially as it had been quiet in the neighborhood since the October riots there.
