Christian Democrats Criticize Weather Forecasts

Parliamentarian Joop Atsma (Christian Democrats) has stressed the need to reduce the number of faulty weather forecasts. He wants the Royal Dutch Meteorological Institute (KNMI) to consult commercial weather bureaus before announcing warnings of extreme bad weather. Atsma said that three out of the five extreme bad weather alarms this year had proved to be incorrect, and each one cost the economy tens of millions of Euros.
