The Minister of Justice Ernst Hirsch Ballin (Christian Democrat) will
investigate the kinds of slogans which were shouted in the recent demonstrations against Israel. He will also investigate what actions the police and the attorney general office have taken in this matter. The Center for Information and Documentation on Israel (CIDI) has said that the police had been reluctant to intervene during the demonstrations when anti-Semitic slogans were shouted. CIDI director Ronny Naftaniel says that there were shouts of “Hamas, Hamas, Jews to the gas” and “the army of Mohammad is coming” which he says can be interpreted to mean, “we come to kill you.”
He added that, by not intervening, the police were giving the signal that it is okay to threaten Jews.
