Law Professor: Disciplinary Punishment Required for Prosecutors and Attorneys-General

Geert-Jan Knoops, professor of international criminal law and an advocate, says that disciplinary punishment is required for prosecutors and attorneys-general if they make professional errors. He says that the internal disciplinary procedures of the attorney-general’s office are far from adequate. Knoops adds that it is incomprehensible that all citizens, except for prosecutors, are held responsible for their mistakes. He also thinks that prosecutors who try to have someone condemned by contrived means, should themselves be prosecuted for fraud.
