Dutch Military in Afghanistan Complain about Ministry’s Waste

Dutch soldiers in Afghanistan are very frustrated about what they call “the waste of money by the Ministry of Development Collaboration.” The soldiers say that, while they are told that they must save money, the ministry spends tens of millions of Euros on projects whose results cannot be verified. Last year the ministry spent 133 million Euro in Afghanistan; this year it is paying a German company for the construction of a road. Soldiers claim that the German company is paying protection money to a local warlord.
