Sybrand Buma, head of the Christian
Democrat faction in Parliament said that if the Dutch government continues to
follow its policies, mass unemployment will be forthcoming. He mentioned that
while Europe’s economy is slowly progressing, the Netherlands’ is not. Buma
said that the prospects for growth are not better than those of problematic countries such as Greece, Spain and Italy. According to him, the government
should invest in job creation and promoting investment in businesses. At
present, Dutch unemployment is hovering around 7%, but is rapidly growing.
