Major Increase in Maltreatment of Elderly

The number of complaints about the maltreatment of the elderly increased by 81% in 2008 to 662 cases. These data come from various sources. Movisie, a consultancy center, said that the perpetrators are often people who are close to the elderly person, such as a spouse, children, neighbors or caregivers.
