In 20 Dutch hospitals doctors perform surgery of the aorta and the esophagus for which the hospital is not qualified. These are the findings of a report by the Consumentenbond, a major consumer organization. There is a requirement that hospitals perform a minimum number of such operations annually in order to be allowed to do such surgery.
