In view of the great demand, only
those with severe psychological disorders such as depression or phobias can now
be treated by the mental health services. All others are referred to general
practitioners who are assisted by the mental health service, rather than being directly
referred to the more expensive mental health services. In 2010, one in thirty such patients used the
general practitioners; in 2014, numbers rose to one in six people with
psychosocial problems.
