Amsterdam Police Commissioner in Chief, Pieter-Jaab
Aalbersberg, has said that the Amsterdam police has confiscated 33 Kalashnikovs
within the past four months. In total,
the Amsterdam police have confiscated 300 firearms in the past six months. Aalbersberg
said that over the past few years the trade of heavy weapons in the Netherlands
had not been a priority of the police. He believes that this has to
change. In the Netherlands, Kalashnikovs
are very often used for gang killings.
