RTL Nieuws has obtained a document from the National
Detective Service which shows that criminals are hardly hindered in the
continuation of their activities from their jails. The document concludes that
the police and the justice department are not able to deal with this “urgent”, “persistent”
and “serious” problem. The research is based on the surveillance of 29 jailed
top criminals. They can from their jail continue with trading in humans and
drugs, blackmailing, killings and the influencing of witnesses.

Authorities Neglected Psychiatric Problems of Suspected Murderer of Deputy Prime Minister
A year after the murder of former Dutch Deputy Prime
Minister Els Borst, a suspect has been identified. It now turns out that it was well-known that

the 12th of January of this year, when he was arrested on suspicions
of having killed his sister. http://www.volkskrant.nl/binnenland/psychisch-probleem-verdachte-dood-els-borst-al-jaren-bekend~a3838775/

Amsterdam Police Commissioner in Chief, Pieter-Jaab
Aalbersberg, has said that the Amsterdam police has confiscated 33 Kalashnikovs

had not been a priority of the police. He believes that this has to
change. In the Netherlands, Kalashnikovs
are very often used for gang killings.

A study by a department of the Ministry of Justice has
found that Dutch prison wardens are feeling increasingly unsafe. Two-thirds of them say that the budget

impact on the workplace safety of prison employees. There is increasing violence on the part of
the inmates. In a radio program, several
wardens said that the shortage of personnel has led to an atmosphere of fear

Dutch Soccer Players Bribed by Gambling Syndicates
At least two top-class games of the
2009-2010 season have been manipulated. The
games involved the Tilburg club, Willem-II.
Match fixers from Singapore bribed players a total of 100,000 Euros per
game to lose games while maintaining certain scores. These facts result from an
investigation held by the Dutch daily Volkskrant. The football association, KNVB, will put in a
complaint regarding this issue with the prosecutor’s office. This is the first time that it has become publicly
known that Dutch soccer games have been manipulated by gamblers. In most other European countries, this has
already been known to happen. Some say that these two cases are the merely the
tip of the iceberg of match-fixing in Dutch leagues.

Police Union: Number of Incidents of Extreme Violence is Rising
Gerrit van de Kamp, the chairman of
the police trade union, ACP, says that the number of incidents of extreme
violence in the Netherlands is increasing.
This can be seen, for instance, in the recent series of murders in
Amsterdam. He says that the police force
should therefore have more officers equipped with machine guns. Due to the many threats in the
Netherlands, more police officers are busy with security. The number of police officers should therefore be
increased by 2,000. Van de Kamp adds
that the police should be given greater liberty in responding to extreme
violence.

Dutch Jihad Expert: Netherlands Even More Vulnerable than France
Ronald
Sandee is a world-renowned expert on jihad who now lives in the United
States. In the past, he was a jihad
specialist of the Dutch military secret service. Sandee says that the
Netherlands is far more vulnerable to jihadist attacks than France, as there
are far less police officers on the streets, and that the cutbacks in defense
spending may make the Dutch military incapable of defending the country. Sandee adds that Dutch businesses, ministries
and institutes are not prepared whatsoever for such types of attacks. According
to a police detective, the Dutch police officers are afraid of attacks, the
more so as their weapons are limited to small pistols.

Forty Percent of Mosques Have Been Vandalized
Researcher
Ineke van der Valk of the University of Amsterdam says that almost 40% of the
about 475 mosques in the Netherlands have been vandalized within the past ten
years. The vandalism included graffiti,
broken windows, or the hanging of a pig’s head within the mosque. Van der Valk interviewed representatives of 86
mosque of which 58 had suffered from an incident, of which 1/3 occurred within
the last year alone. In the past few
days, security around the mosques has been strengthened because of a call on a
Facebook page, supporting the PVV, to burn down mosques, like what was done in
Sweden. Van der Valk says that after the murder of van Gogh in 2004, there was
an increase in such vandalism, which is increasing yet again due to the
publicity around the Islamic State.

More than 70,000 Complaints about Fireworks
Over the
past few days, there were 71,582 complaints made to the call center regarding
hazardous fireworks. This has been said
by Arno Bonte, a member of the Rotterdam municipality of the Green Left
party. The huge number of complaints was
still 20% less than those of last year, which shows, according to Bonte, that
government measures, such as the establishment of firework-free zones, are
efficient. The Green Left party’s aim is
that no fireworks should be used by individuals, but rather that the
municipalities should organize professional firework shows.
