The Hague Center for Strategic Studies (HCSS) has analyzed the vision on defense issues in the coming elections on 12 September of ten parties. This independent think tank comes to the conclusion that if the savings announced in the left wing parties’ programs the Dutch defense may be hollowed out so much that in practice it can hardly be used. These programs may lead to the disappearance of an additional 20,000 jobs. The present government has already eliminated the basis for 12,000 jobs and eliminated all Dutch tanks.
