Huge Decline in Birds over Fifty Years
The number of birds in The Netherlands outside of the cities has decreased by well over sixty percent since 1960. Then there were 1,000 birds per square kilometer, now there are only 300. According to Dutch Bird Protection, this decline is faster than elsewhere in Europe, where it is on the average of fifty percent.
