The Dutch police union (NPB)
said that policemen have to wear the same trousers or shirts for months on end
because the Dutch police have no reserve clothing to give out. Ordering new
clothing does not help because supplies may take half a year to arrive. A
monitoring point has been opened in the meantime on this issue. Hundreds of
complaints have already been received. Saskia Dorrestein, Secretary of the NPB
said that she knows a policeman who has only one pair of trousers which he
wears daily. He doesn’t dare wash them anymore because in the area where he places
his gun, there is a hole of two centimeters and he is afraid that if he were to
wash the trousers, they would disintegrate.
