Former Parliamentarian Hans
Gualtherie van Weezel is departing chairman of the commission which supervises
the return of asylum seekers. He said that while the Dutch law concerning
immigrants originally was quite severe, now a machinery has developed of
lawyers, interest groups and politicians which creates exceptions. The result
is that asylum seekers increasingly choose The Netherlands as a country to go
to. Together with Germany and Sweden, that is The Netherlands. He concluded
that it has become almost a mission impossible to make foreigners leave The
Netherlands.
