At a darts game in Newcastle UK, spectators held up placards
worded with texts such as “Kenneth NSB” and “Kenneth Vermeer should hang.” The NSB was the Dutch collaborator party during the German Nazi occupation. Vermeer is a Dutch soccer player currently
with Feyenoord Rotterdam, and previously of Ajax, Amsterdam. The pictures were shown on Dutch TV. Earlier at a game between Feyenoord and Ajax,
the player had been hanged in effigy.
Prime Minister Rutte called the attacks on Vermeer nauseating.
