Ambulances summoned to the asylum seeker center in Zaandam will
be escorted by police. This was decided
after police and ambulance workers were attacked by asylum seekers. They had come to the center because a man had
hurt himself and some said he had intended to commit suicide. The situation was so unsafe that the
ambulance workers and police left the center without the wounded man. He was later brought outside by residents of
the center so that he could be taken for medical treatment.
