Prime Minister Balkenende (Christian Democrats) said that Ben Bot (also a Christian Democrat) the Minister of Foreign Affairs in his previous cabinet, should have resigned in 2005. Bot recently told the NRC Handelsblad daily that he still stood behind his remark in 2005 that the decision to invade Iraq had been a mistake. He said that, at the time, Balkenende had forced him to say that it was a slip of the tongue.
