Ursie Lambrechts, a former parliamentarian of the left of center D66 party has appeared before a parliamentary commission which investigates the problems of the major innovation program in education. She claimed that former deputy Education minister Tineke Netelenbos knowingly misinformed Parliament on the prospects of the second phase of the program. When this phase was introduced in 1998 it soon became clear that the program could not be carried out. This led to a major demonstration by school pupils in 1999.
