Deputy Minister Stientje van Veldhoven of Infrastructure has
admitted in parliament that in the every four investigation by the State Institute
for Public Health and Environment (RIVM) of the health risks of the high
furnaces in IJmuiden never research has been done into the problems resulting
from the “graphite rains”. The minister admitted that these could contain too
high concentrations of lead, manganese and vanadium.
