Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb has said that he regretted that the anti-Muslim
demonstration of Pegida at the Laleili mosque in Rotterdam was cancelled. He
said: However poisonous a message, people should be able to express it. It is a
sign of intolerance if such a message cannot be expressed. The anti-Islam group
Pegida had received a permission from the mayor for a barbeque of pig-meat in
front of the mosque during the evening prayer.
