Misconduct on and around Dutch soccer
fields occurs far more often than
in any other popular sports arena.
At one out of thirty-three games, incidents occur in which the Discipline
Commission has to intervene. In basketball, the same figure is one out of two
hundred and ninety-one games. In hockey, it is in one out of three hundred and
seventy-four games. In volleyball, it is one out of fifteen hundred games. The
misconduct in soccer is due to the weak attitude of the Royal Dutch Soccer
Association (KNVB). That is the opinion of other sport unions and the referees.
The KNVB rejects the criticism. Last weekend again, two soccer players were arrested
after they assaulted a referee. www.volkskrant.nl/vk/nl/2686/Binnenland/article/detail/3440239/2013/05/13/Voetbal-veruit-gevaarlijkste-sport.dhtml
