Police trade unions ACP and NPB will investigate whether the Minister of Justice and Security and other authorities can be held responsible as an employer when policemen are attacked. This could lead to financial claims against the ministry on behalf of the attacked policemen. ACP Chairman Gerrit van de Kamp said that according to the law, employers have to see to it that the situation is as safe as possible when policemen act. However, this is often not the case. Violence against Dutch police remains high. During the past weekend in various places, policemen were kicked, beaten and bitten.
