More Dutch War Crimes in Indonesia being Discussed

A Dutch-Indonesian committee wants two Dutch former soldiers to be prosecuted for war crimes against the civil population committed in southern Sulawesi after 1946. They were part of the Dutch elite troops and have admitted their crimes on TV programs. One of the two said that he did not regret what he did. The complaint is brought on behalf of 6 Indonesian widows. Earlier the same committee brought a complaint against the still living Dutch soldiers who carried out the mass murder in the town of Rawagede on the island of Java. The committee has also requested from the prime minister to make public the report on the crimes of Dutch military against Indonesian civilians. The TV programs said that the then-Dutch government of Prime Minister Willem Drees has kept the report secret.
