The national investigation of public toilets of 2009 has found that only 24% of the 150 inspected public toilets were clean. This is a decline of 2% since the last inspection in 2008. The study was published in the professional cleaners’ magazine Service Management. Cleanliness of faucets, the toilet seats and the door latches were checked. A major finding was that the men’s toilets are often cleaner than those of the women. The main decline was in toilets in health care facilities. As opposed to 33% clean toilets in 2008, this year it was only 22%. www.telegraaf.nl/binnenland/5266185/__Openbare_wc_s_steeds_smeriger__.html
