The education inspectorate receives more and more complaints
of sexual abuse in Dutch schools. In the
school year 2014-2015 there were 112 complaints, as against 86 one year
earlier. Most complaints came from high schools. More than half of the cases
concern major sexual harassment including rape, assault and lechery. One in three complaints concern teachers or other
school staff. The inspectorate calls on
schools to establish behavioral codes for teachers, general school staffers,
and pupils.
