Detailhandel Nederland, an organization which represents the
interests of Dutch retailers, says that more and more girls steal cosmetics,
food and expensive electronic products from shops. These are goods which can easily be put in a
backpack or handbag. For the first time
since registration started, the numbers of male and female shoplifters aged
under 25 years are equal. A
representative of the organization said that in this field, there is a faster
emancipation for women than in any other area of criminal activity. The data are based on 25,000 complaints to
the police.
