Former Defense Minister Eimert van Middelkoop (Christian Union) admitted that in 2009 he had asked foreigners to exert pressure on his colleague Wouter Bos then Minister of Finance (Labor Party), to agree with the prolongation of the presence of Dutch soldiers in the NATO forces in Afghanistan. He added that he considered such action completely normal.
