Intelligence Service Can View Text Messages Illegally

The General Intelligence and Security Service (AIVD) and the police are able to view text messages illegally. The Supervisory Commission of the Intelligence and Security Service (CITV) objects to this because the Ministry of the Interior has not given permission for this. The AIVD and police are allowed to ask for traffic information via mobile phone, but two of the cellular providers are unable to separate traffic data from content.
