The Hague: Deep Distrust of Police two Years after Ethnic Riots

Two years ago after riots in the Schilderswijk neighborhood in The Hague distrust of the police remains widespread among young people living in the area. Researcher Carina Duijndam said: “They feel like second-class citizens. Every white person they see is a policeman or a journalist who’s writing something bad about the area, or a teacher dishing out punishments. There is a huge divide between society and the neighbourhood.”
