The Maars company from
Harderwijk which builds interiors may be among the first victims of the Saudi
sanctions against the Netherlands. Its director Menno de Vries said that the
company may lose 15 to 20 million Euros of business over three years. Maars was on
the verge of signing a contract with the Aramco oil company, but was told that
there would be no order. De Vries said that the company’s manager for the
Middle East had been told that there would in the foreseeable future, be no new
projects with Dutch companies. Maars was also bidding for other contracts in
Saudi Arabia. De Vries said that they would not be invited for them, even
though they are already active for ten years in Saudi Arabia.
