The broadcast tower at Hoogersmilde collapsed after a fire there. It consisted of an 80 meter concrete construction and on top of it was a 200 meter steel tower. A second broadcast tower at IJsselstein, in another part of the country also burned on the same day. Radio and TV transmissions in parts of the Netherlands were disrupted.
