Amsterdam firemen say that due to the cutbacks in the budget of the fire department, their own safety is in danger as well as the fire protection in the city. Firemen have complained that instead of seven people on a team, there are now only six. The commander of the fire department has announced in a letter that there will be no longer be any overtime pay, no vacancies will be filled and a number of staff employees will be fired.
