20,000 Mistakes in Medication in Nursing Homes

In 2005 more than 20,000 mistakes in the administration of medications were made in the approximately 300 Dutch nursing homes. This includes for instance, nurses forgetting to give medication or giving wrong doses. These data are based on information from the Inspection for Health Care. The data also show that in one of 10 nursing homes, patients incur injuries due to being restrained.
