A delegation of the American Congress has asked to visit The
Netherlands for a dialogue, but have not received a positive answer. Insiders say that Minister Koenders of
Foreign Affairs (Labor Party) is not interested in the visit. The reason appears to be that he considers it
too expensive and the employees of his ministry feel it will involve too much
work. The Americans want to come because
The Netherlands will be chairing the EU during the first half of 2016. Mario Diaz-Balart, the leader of the
intended Congress delegation, said this is a slap in the face for Congress.
