International Art Project in Former Jail Fails

An art project titled “Thirteen Isolations” in Hoorn consisted of 13 international artists working in a former jail. The municipality had made the facility available so that the artists could work without being hindered by external influences. The activities began on 1 August but, within a few days, seven artists had left due to the primitive conditions in the building. The municipality has now closed the project as it considers now that the sanitary conditions and the fire safety are inadequate.
