Dutch Patrols in Afghanistan Insufficiently Informed

Five Dutch soldiers were wounded in Afghanistan by roadside bombs. Minister of Defense Eimert van Middelkoop (Christian Union) said in Parliament that the soldiers had not been informed about the eradication of poppy fields in the area by the Afghan national police. This had led to unrest. He said that the patrol ventured out farther than usual thinking that the area was quiet. He promised an investigation.
