Government Raises Level of Security Alert

The Government has raised the national security alert from ‘limited’ to ‘substantial’, one below the highest level. This is in view of the increased possibility of an attack by foreign terrorists. The security alert had been lowered in April 2007. The main reason for concern is Al Qaida activities in various others European countries. Other reasons are the proposed movie on the Quran, incitement and violence by Freedom Party Leader Geert Wilders and the presence of Dutch NATO troops in Afghanistan.
